Gone Fishing!

newsSometimes in the middle of a situation that seems to be helpless and hopeless, the best thing to do is get away from it all in the great outdoors!  That’s exactly what seven of our wounded Marines did with Wounded Marine Outdoors when they got a taste of Catfish fishing in Virginia!  This trip offered a much needed break from their daily routine of recovery.

Coming from Portsmouth Naval Hospital and the Wounded Marine Brigade at Camp Lejeune, seven wounded heroes enjoyed a day of camaraderie and fishing on the James River just south of Richmond.  Suffering from injuries ranging from a crushed foot to severe shrapnel wounds these guys were thankful to be out of the hospital and out in the healing fresh air.  The trip was the first of many to come using the out-of-doors as an effective way to help not only in the physical, but psychological healing process.  Wounded Marine Outdoors not only provides a variety of outdoor activities for a change of pace to help in the healing process, but to let these brave Marines know that we are thankful for the sacrifices they have made. Stay tuned for upcoming trips!
